Two Factor Authentication (2FA) for Palo Alto
using different factors to authenticate
Using a range of authentication factors for authenticating your login to Palo Alto, demonstrates how easy and quickly you can securely authenticate access. As an example we have used three authentication factors available with AuthControl Sentry®, however there are up to ten authentication methods available.
About TURing
TURing is a 10-digit code presented in the form of a rectangular image in the user’s web browser. The user then takes from it the numbers represented by their PIN. If their PIN is 1370, then they simply take the 1st, 3rd, 7th, and 10th character from the presented image.
About PINpad®
PINpad® is part of the image authentication range available with AuthControl Sentry®. Similar to TURing, it is based on the patented PINsafe® technology. A 10-digit code is presented in the form of a number grid in the user’s web browser. The user then simply clicks on the images that represent their PIN. Each image clicked then transmits a different OTC code to AuthControl Sentry® to authenticate the user.
About AuthControl Mobile®
There are a number of ways to authenticate utilising the mobile application (AuthControl Mobile®) including an effortless and effective PUSH notification with Swivel One Touch®, OATH soft token, and a one-time code (OTC) for both Android or iOS operating systems. In the example for logging in to Palo Alto, we have utilised the OTC option.
The one-time code option on the mobile app
The OTC on the mobile app is an ideal way of generating a security code to authenticate access to your applications.
Each time you are challenged to authenticate, simply use the OTC displayed in the App. As there are 99 codes, the OTC function is versatile enough to be used offline. Once the code has been entered, you will be granted access to your application.
